Bonefish Island Expeditions
Private Island Fishing and Camping
El Pescador now offers overnight island camping expeditions for those anglers interested in a total outdoor fishing experience. Fish from sun-up to sun-down and enjoy wading the exquisite turtle-grass and sand flats* surrounding our little island, home to bonefish and permit.
The El Pescador family has purchased Bonefish Island and three other nearby cayes to preserve our flats which are so essential to the health of our fishery. These flats provide coveted, private sight-fishing opportunities. Our small camp will allow a maximum of 6 anglers with 3 guides per night to wade fish these waters — now protected from development and loss of habitat.
Our private island overnight camping and fishing expedition is available as an add-on to your regular fishing package or as an optional activity for anglers without a fishing package.
Depart the lodge at 7am for a day of guided fishing as part of your original package. Arrive at Bonefish Island at 3pm. Enjoy wading near the island until the sun goes down. Your Guide will BBQ a fresh fish dinner. Camp under the stars in spacious REI tents (2 people per tent. Onsite tent potty and solar showers are provided.)
Begin wading again at sunrise while your Guide prepares a continental breakfast with hot coffee. Start at 7am for a day of guided fishing as part of your original package. Return to the lodge at 3pm.
The overnight camping expedition can be added to your regular fishing package for an additional US$199 per angler, based on 2 anglers sharing a tent and guide.
If not on a package at El Pescador, the rate is US$699 per angler, based on 2 anglers per boat and tent and includes:
- 2 days of guided fishing
- 1 night of Bonefish Island camping
- 2 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 breakfast, 6 local beers per person
- All applicable taxes
“Camping isn’t for everyone. But for those of us who feel nature speaks a little louder out there under the stars, it is Heaven.” – Lori-Ann Murphy
Please note there is no electricity, internet or running water; approximately 50% of the flats surrounding the island are wadable (and 50% are not).
