Feb 14th - Feb 21st 2010 Fishing Report
WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONES: Well, Gary had a big day, 21 bones landed! Then he took out his son and daughter, and they caught their first bones on a flyrod. More on Gary in the permit section. Jim landed some nice bones 5-6 lbs, which is rare for us, so we are bragging. More about Jim in the jack section! All in all, bonefishing saved the week as we dealt with the nature of the cold front. Jerry and I tagged a few bonefish with Gilberto trying to get better about tagging so we have more data for the Bonefish, Tarpon Trust.
PERMIT: Gary landed 3 permit in one day. Not bad for his last day out before heading back to Seattle. Other permit seen, but not landed.
TARPON: Due to conditions, blind casting for tarpon
.Dons arm is ready to fall off. Dont worry Don, I know you will have all the MoJo you need for tarpon in August. You are due!
JACKS: Jim was one happy camper with several nice jacks, the largest was 15 lbs.
SNOOK: Mr. Snook was seen but not targeted.
FLIES THAT WORKED
FOR BONES: Christmas Island Specials, Charlies and Gotchas. Tan, gold, sexy patterns
FOR TARPON: Black Beauties were tossed, and some other creations un-named all for big hope
.but the cold front kept the poons from the cast.
FOR PERMIT: Orange Christmas Island Specials and Merkins.
REPORT SUMMARY:
My good friend Jerry was here he had to make sure I didnt move to the end of the earth! Ive been guiding Jerry for 20 years he feels it his responsibility to tell me where to fish. So, he and our guide Star, also known as Gilberto, became a team this week at El Pescador Lodge. It thrilled me to hear their stories at the end of the day. One day, Jerry caught 11 different species of fish. He loves that stuff. Now when I guide Jerry this summer in Montana, he can tell me more fish stories from his trip this week. And I know my buddy will be back for more fishing and good times. Jim was also thrilled with the large jacks he found with Kachu. The cold front brought about some big bones, and Jim caught a few of those as well. Another team bonded I know Jim looks forward to more fun times with Kachu here on the flats of Ambergris Caye. Fishing buddies sometimes you find a guide or a buddy who is in sync with your style of fishing. It is always a special bond. I met a new fishing buddy as well. Valentines Day brought a great bonefishing day out in the lagoon. We wrapped up the week and Chris asked Jerry if he approved of L-As move to El Pescador Lodge. Jerry said he sees L-A happy, so he knows it was a good thing!
If you have any questions or would like more information, please email us at fish@ElPescador.com. Happy fishing!
