March 24, 2013 - March 30, 2013 Fishing Report
WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
GRAND SLAM: Jim and Captain Sinoe teamed up for a grand slam on the last day of the week. Jim is here as the leader and host of their yearly Salt Water Seminars here at El Pescador. The seminar starts tomorrow and is 4 days long.
BONES: The bonefish were cooperative as normal with everyone able to catch them, even our first timers to saltwater! Roy and Di with their young sons, Matt and Benjamin all got bonefish on their first days. Matt was quick to inform me that he caught 22 fish that day! Their guide was veteran Captain Erlindo who has been with El Pescador since the beginning. Steven, Chris, Al. Ravi, CK, Don, Casey Andrew and Richard all scored big time with the bones.
PERMIT:3 permit were landed this week with several other hooked up. One was part of Jim’s Grand Slam and George and Mark landed 2 others just after the cold front passed through. Their guide was Captain Kechu who was very excited as they both were so close to slamming! They just couldn’t get a tarpon to the boat!
TARPON: Several tarpon were hooked but only 2 were landed! Stephen had a large one attack the fly but couldn’t get it to stick. A few others were jumped and lost.
OTHER SPECIES: A large snook was landed, a few jacks, cudas, snappers, groupers, ladyfish, triggerfish added variety for many boats.
FLIES THAT WORKED
Bonefish: Gotcha, Crazy Charlie’s in tan or white, just about anything would work
Permit: Mantis Shrimp, Pink Christmas Island Special
Tarpon: Black Death, Olive Cockroach, Orange Cockroach
