April 1, 2012 - April 7, 2012 Fishing Report
WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONES: There are too many names to mention – all the boats that went out came back with bonefish every day the questions was just how many! Some as high as 30, others in single digits. Cody landed his first bonefish ever with guide Erlindo.
PERMIT: No permit were landed but there were 6 hookups and lots of follows . This prompted a few derogatory words and shaking heads around the bar when the subject of permit came up! Charles had 2 fighting over his fly but they both missed twice, finally getting too close to the boat and spooking off.
TARPON: The wind shut down the tarpon flats the first half of the week but once the calm weather arrived a couple boats each day went out for some tarpon action. Charles and his guide Kechu jumped a couple on Charle’s first day, Rob was the only one able to land one, a nice 35 pounder, and Michael and his guide Sinoe jumped a forty pounder that must have landed on the leader on the last jump and it broke off.
SNOOK: Not targeted.
FLIES THAT WORKED
All sorts of bonefish flies including tan Crazy Charlies, Gotchas, CI specials, and many, many others. Tarpon – Deceiver white with chartreuse back, purple demon, white toad.
GUIDE OF THE WEEK
The entire team deserves it!
A great trip featuring Orvis’ Fly Fishing Seminars hosted by Todd C. Bonefishing was awesome while permit and tarpon were found but pretty elusive
