Oct. 16th - Oct. 22nd, 2017 Fishing Report
WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING
Tough weather week with rain and clouds but anglers still managing to land a fair share of bonefish. We entertained a large Orvis group, and everyone had a Grand Time. Good friends are taking home lots of fish stories throughout the week. We are looking forward to the wind blowing these clouds out of here so that we can see again. Come on sun!
Ken, Kory, and Parker, three generations of fisherman, went after the permit and tarpon. Parker managed to make it a Grand Slam landing a nice permit on his first saltwater experience. Great work! Plenty of snooks were around this week as well. John C., Dan, and John D. all landed multiple snooks with John D. landing seven.
The tarpon have been rolling in the early morning and enticing anglers to head south. Bill fished with Mariano, our bartender/tarpon hunter extraordinaire in the back lagoon and was able to land a nice size juvenile tarpon. Parker was also one of the lucky ones with his tarpon caught.
Snapper, jacks, barracuda, needlefish, grouper, ladyfish, Mayan Cichlid and snook.
Congratulations to Parker on his grand slam.
Flies that worked:
Bonefish: Christmas Island Specials in orange, pearl and pink size 6 & 8
Permit: Peterson Shrimp, Mantis shrimp and Avalon crabs.
Tarpon:Toads and bunnies, black on black, red on black, tan and olive are all great.
Fisherman and women endured the clouds and rain this week, but all in all a great week of fishing!
