How We Help Our Community

At El Pescador, we feel honored to live and work on Ambergris Caye and are deeply committed to supporting the local community that makes this island so special.

Our focus is on education, conservation, and care for those most in need. We support a variety of educational initiatives, from scholarships for Belizean students to hands-on conservation education aimed at preserving our marine ecosystems. As passionate stewards of the environment, we partner with the local scientific team of the Bonefish & Tarpon Trust to help ensure the long-term health of our fishery and the livelihoods it supports.

We are also proud supporters of Hope Haven, the only facility of its kind in Belize, whose mission is: “Providing shelter and restoring the rights of children who have been neglected, physically, and sexually abused in Belize.” Their work is critical, and we are honored to stand beside them in creating a safer future for Belizean children.

More About Us

Meet Our Family

Ray Kingsfield and Kirk Huddles are partners in Steel Investment Partners; a specialty private equity partnership with Steel Family Office based in Chicago. Steel invests both debt and equity in assets that have demonstrable success and are either going through a management transition or developing an additional business line.

Ray is a lifelong angler having traveled globally pursuing epic saltwater fly fishing experiences while Kirk is an avid sports enthusiast just learning the skill sets of fly fishing. Both fell in love with El Pescador and are committed to ensuring its rich history is maintained and expanded to provide the best customer experience possible.

Al Young, a stalwart in the hospitality and real estate sectors, owning and operating numerous properties to include in the Caribbean. Al fell in love with El Pescador and reached out to John Caparella to join the team.

John Caparella has an extensive background in hotels and entertainment and is also a lifelong angler having grown up in Long Island NY. John and his wife Shannon are water rats and along with fishing, share a love for snorkeling, paddleboarding, diving, sailing, and boating. They bought a home in Belize 11 years ago and have lived there full time the past 3. John is the managing partner for El Pescador and Shannon is the CFO, putting her CPA to work.

Eben Schaefer is our on site General Manager dedicated to providing a great experience for our valued guests. Eben brings decades of experience in the fly fishing industry as a guide, outfitter, and lodge manager. He has fly fished throughout the Americas and is excited to make Belize, and El Pescador, his home with his life partner, Anna Meunier.
