About our Hosts

Whitney Gould

A FFI Certified Casting Instructor, Whitney guides for steelhead on the Clearwater River in Idaho after a long career guiding on the Missouri River for HeadHunters Fly Shop and in Alaska. She teaches one and two-handed casting when she’s not competing in fly casting competitions worldwide (next up, Italy!); she is a 7-time Spey-O-Rama World Casting Champion.
Other than being geared up in layers of clothes and waders in frigid steelhead waters in the northwest with her spey setup, Whitney’s other favorite place to be is bombing casts into the wind, looking intently for the tail of the black devil (permit) on the bow of a flats boat.

Megan Nellen

Megan’s first fish on a fly rod was a bonefish in Belize while fishing with El Pescador in 2012. She’s fished out of San Pedro annually since then, often as a guest at El Pescador. An Atlanta native, she’s an educator and avid fly angler who serves as the outreach coordinator for Casting for Recovery in Georgia and the VP of Georgia Women’s Fly Fishers.

Her family and friends call her the Director of Fun, and standing on a flats boat at 5:30am looking for tarpon is her idea of heaven on earth. Late May 2024 brought Megan her first single-day grand slam in Belize with her PB permit and the smallest bonefish she’s ever caught!
